What is Foilu?

Foilu is a people-powered film studio that turns real-life stories into short films and documentaries. Anyone can join by sharing a short video or memory related to one of our current film projects.

How do I participate in a movie?

Just choose a project that speaks to you, record a 60-second video directly from your phone or laptop, and submit it on the project page. You can also upload photos, text, or voice recordings.

Do I have to be a filmmaker or actor?

Not at all. Foilu is for everyone. Whether you’re shy or outspoken, polished or messy—your story matters.

Is there a cost to submit?

Nope! Submitting your story is completely free. Once submitted, you’ll also unlock access to view the archive of other people’s submissions.

What happens after I submit my story?

Our creative team reviews all submissions and selects clips to be featured in the final film. If your story is chosen, you’ll be credited in the film—and notified before release.

Can I watch other people’s stories?

Yes! Once you submit your own story and the film goes live, you’ll get access to a private, interactive archive of submissions. It’s like a living, breathing global memory box.

What if I’m not chosen for the final film?

Even if your story isn’t featured in the final cut, it will still live inside the Foilu online archive for others to experience and connect with—unless you request otherwise.

Is my story private?

You control what you share. All submissions go through moderation, and you can request to stay anonymous or opt out at any time. We do not sell your data, ever.

Can I submit to more than one film?

Yes, and we encourage it! The more stories you share, the more threads you help weave into our global storytelling project.

Will I be notified if my story is in the film?

Yes. If your submission is selected, you’ll receive an email before the film is released, and your name will be included in the credits.
